Practical training built from the work itself.

Job knowledge, captured clearly

Turn experience into training people can actually use.

Your best employees carry years of hard-earned know-how. We capture it on the job and turn it into clear SOPs, JSAs, video, and visual training — or put a vetted retired expert to work training your team, hands-on.

What we do

Two services. Choose one or both.

Each service is separate and priced on its own — never blended together.

Service one

Expert deployment

A vetted retired expert comes in and trains your people hands-on — the fix for when the veteran already retired and the new hire isn’t ready for the full job yet.

You and the expert agree on pay upfront; Legacy of Gray Matter charges a 20% fee on top for the match, vetting, and background check.

Talk about a deployment

Service two

Knowledge capture

A capturer records your retiring employee’s full job on video, then builds updated SOPs, JSAs, and training videos — shaped to the way the work really happens, meeting applicable OSHA standards.

Flat fee of $2,500–$25,000, scoped to the engagement.

Talk about a capture

Why this work matters

The important details rarely live in the binder.

They live in the decisions, checks, and small adjustments an experienced employee makes without thinking.

Legacy of Gray Matter works beside your team to capture that knowledge before it walks out the door — without flattening it into dry, forgettable paperwork.

  • See the actual sequence, tools, handoffs, and judgment points in the job.
  • Pair written instructions with video and screenshots trainees can follow.
  • Keep the procedure and its safety thinking connected instead of scattered.

The capture process

From shop floor to training floor.

Select a step to see how field knowledge becomes a practical training resource.

Start with the person who knows the work.

We observe the job in its real setting, ask the right questions, and identify the moments a new trainee needs explained — not just the steps an outline says should happen.

Real work. Real conditions. Real context.

What the capture work becomes

One organized place for every job and every task.

A living training page

Not a wall of text. Each job can be organized into task-level sections that keep instructions, hazards, controls, video, and visual references together.

Built around your operation

The language, sequence, equipment, and job conditions come from your workplace.

Easy to revisit

New employees can learn the task, and experienced employees can use it as a quick refresher.

Ready to grow

Add jobs and tasks over time as more knowledge is captured and refined.

A strong fit

For work that depends on people knowing more than the page says.

This approach works especially well when training involves equipment, physical movement, safety judgment, multiple handoffs, or years of experience that are difficult to explain from memory alone.

Equipment operation

Controls, inspections, setup, and safe operating decisions.

Production work

Repeatable sequences, quality checks, and changeovers.

Maintenance tasks

Diagnosis, access, tools, and safe return to service.

Field procedures

Work that changes with the setting and the conditions.
